When you ask for a quote

The quote form asks for your name, email, phone number and the part of town you're in, plus whatever you tell Ben about the project. You can add measurements or a photo of your stairs if you want a price.

That goes straight to Ben's inbox as an email. If you entered measurements, a copy of the estimate is emailed to you as well. Ben uses it to price your job and get back to you. It isn't sold, rented or shared with anyone else, and he doesn't add you to a mailing list.

Photos you send are attached to that email and used to understand your space. Nothing more.

When you just visit

Like most websites, this one collects some anonymous information about visits: which pages get looked at, roughly what part of the country people are in, and whether you arrived from Google, Facebook or a link somewhere else. Ben uses it to see which parts of the site are actually useful.

Two outside companies help with that, and both set cookies in your browser:

• Google
• Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram

No personal information is shared with either of them.

Cloudflare also runs a short automated check when you submit the quote form. It's there to stop spam bots, and it looks at your browser rather than at you.

Turning it off

You can stop the tracking entirely, and the site will work exactly the same:

• Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings
• A tracker blocker such as uBlock Origin or Privacy Badger will block both companies
• Browsing in a private or incognito window clears everything when you close it

If you'd rather Ben didn't keep the details you sent through the form, just ask and he'll delete them.
